As the world gets a little brighter, and the earth grows a little greener, we are still searching for ways to relax, regenerate and enjoy the warm days. As Spring Break approaches, here are some activities that The Lasso suggests:

Visit the D.C. cherry blossoms

As warmer months arrive, so do the beautiful cherry blossoms that line the Tidal Basin. The over 3,000 cherry trees are a promising sign of spring that were first planted in 1912 as a gift from Japan. Just take the short drive down to D.C. to find spectacular views. We recommend visiting on a weekday to miss the crowds.

Make popsicles and lemonade

After the dark winter, even 75 degree weather causes everyone to break a sweat. We suggest making a refreshing drink such as lemonade or a fun treat, like a popsicle, to cool down. These can be easily purchased at your local grocery store or made at home with just a cup and a freezer.

Go on a hike and drink smoothies after

As our world brightens, fully absorb the new lightened atmosphere by taking a hike on your favorite trail and stopping by a smoothie shop afterwards. Try any of Falls Church’s local smoothie shops, such as South Block, Robex, or Tropical Smoothie Cafe. An energizing hike through beautiful scenery and a refreshing drink after will be sure to be a wonderful outing.

Go on a bike ride

Take advantage of the W&OD Trail that runs right through Falls Church and spend your morning or afternoon enjoying the sights that your ride brings. Stop by the monuments on the National Mall, or head in the other direction and enjoy the many restaurants Vienna has to offer.

Go to a bookstore with a friend and read outside

Spring Break is an exceptional time to relax and what better way to do that than with a good book. Invite a friend to join you and support a local bookstore together like One More Page Books near the Falls Church fire station.

Go to the farmers market

Every Saturday, vendors from around the Northern Virginia area collect at City Hall to sell their goods to the people of Falls Church. Take the short walk or drive to the center of town to experience fresh goods to relish the rest of the week.

Go on a picnic
