Grand Army

It can be hard to find a show that accurately depicts what high school is really like. However, Grand Army does this with ease. The show takes place in New York City and follows five students that attend Grand Army High School, the fictional, largest high school in Brooklyn. In the first episode, morning classes have just started when a bomb explodes in a nearby city square. The explosion directly impacts all of the events that follow. Each main character has a unique background story, and most plot lines include themes such as dating, college applications, and sports. The show is super fascinating and hard to step away from. Grand Army is available to stream on Netflix. 

Wonder by Shawn Mendes

Chances are, if you’ve listened to the radio at all in the past couple of months, you’ve heard songs from Shawn Mendes’ latest album, Wonder. While the singles from the album “Monster” (featuring Justin Bieber) and “Wonder” have gotten the most attention, none of the tracks disappoint. Many of the songs feature soaring background vocals and catchy guitar riffs, yet all of them are significantly more mature and confident than Mendes’ previous hits. Some of the best songs include the nervous but sweet track “24 hours,” the imaginative “Look Up At the Stars,” and the upbeat anthem “305.”

Ted Lasso

These days, who isn’t looking for another TV show recommendation? Or better yet, one that combines sports, heart-to-hearts, and comedy, like Ted Lasso. This ten episode series follows an amateur American football coach, Ted Lasso, as he’s hired to coach a British professional soccer team. The show is laugh-out-loud hilarious and features quick-witted conversations between Ted Lasso, his coaching staff, and his team. Ted Lasso will make you want to laugh, move across the pond, and enjoy some homemade shortbread cookies, or as they’re called in England, biscuits. The first season of Ted Lasso is available to stream on Apple TV+.
