Where to look for last minute homecoming shopping

Megan Clinton and Audrey Morrison

The homecoming dance on the Meridian football field is less than two weeks away! The dance might be sneaking up and you might not have thought about what you plan to wear. So if you want to purchase a dress but haven’t done so yet, here are some places to look:

Windsor: moderately priced

Located in the Tysons Corner mall, Windsor has a wide variety of homecoming dresses. They have a lot of fun colors and styles of dresses that fit the rave theme. The sizes range from U.S. sizes small to large. As an added bonus, the fitting rooms are currently open to try them on!

Macy’s: moderately priced

A cult classic; Macy’s has good staple homecoming dresses. Some are a little over the top, but you could probably find a good dress if you were in a pinch. They have a wide variety of styles in many different colors.

Lucy in the Sky: moderately priced

Lucy in the Sky is another classic formal dress website. Similar in style and size to Windsor, they’ll carry your basic homecoming needs. If you have any siblings who’ve attended school dances, they might have bought a dress from here. The website is super easy to navigate: if you’re looking for a particular formal outing, you can hover click their “Shop” bar for optimal search. Some of the dresses take longer to ship, so make sure to double check the estimate of when the dress will arrive.

Unique: best price

If you want a unique dress at a price point you can’t beat, then go to Unique. They have a large selection of dresses in a range of styles. Also, buying a dress secondhand is a great way to help out the planet.

Princess Polly: moderately priced

Princess Polly is a great choice for a split decision Hoco dress! They offer tons of shades, styles, and sizes ranging from a U.S. 0-12. The prices are in the $40-70 range, but the highlight is that the site provides free express (3-4 day) shipping for orders over $50. If you like the styles below: search for key words like “minidress,” “formal dresses,” or “homecoming.”

Vanessa Mooney: more expensive

Vanessa Mooney carries the cutest boutique-style dresses and rompers. Their “Elizabeth Romper Dress” is all over social media right now and there are few left on the website. Although they don’t carry a lot of styles, you might find that you like their corset/bustier-inspired minidresses. Check them out at the link above.

Réalization Par: most expensive

Réalization Par is the most expensive site on our list. Although their dresses are certainly on the higher end, you might find them worth your investment. They are known for their notoriously high quality. Take a look at some of the styles below and decide for yourself whether they’re worth the expense.
