Super Bowl LVI was packed with big plays and scoring in all four quarters. The Cincinnati Bengals made the Super Bowl for the first time since 1989 after beating the Kansas City Chiefs in overtime during the AFC Championship. The Los Angeles Rams had played in the Super Bowl more recently, in 2018, losing to the New England Patriots.

The game:

The 2022 Super Bowl was dominated by passing touchdowns. Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford passed for 283 yards with 3 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. On the other hand, Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow passed for 263 yards with a passing touchdown.

Both defenses pressured the opposing quarterbacks in the pocket the whole game. The Rams defensive line got to Burrow all night while the secondary contained the Bengals to 20 points. The Bengals run defense managed to hold the Rams to 43 rushing yards. However the same can’t be said for the Cincinnati secondary. They struggled to contain Cooper Kupp, ultimately costing them the game. Los Angeles played tough and managed to pull off a 23-20 win over Cincinnati to earn their second Lombardi Trophy in franchise history.

Halftime Show:

The Super Bowl halftime show featured multiple artists: Snoop Dog, Kendrick Lamar, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, Dr. Dre, and surprise guest 50 Cent. The Super Bowl has not been held in LA for nearly 30 years so the NFL decided to crank things up by bringing hip-hop to the show.
