GMHS Fall Musical to feature audience participation
Family pressures? Perfectionism? Living up to expectations? Do these phrases sound familiar to you? Well, they do to Logainne SchwartzandGrubenierre, Marcy Park, and Olive Ostrovsky too. No, these aren’t girls in your fifth period class. They’re contestants in “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” and they’ll trying to live up to those expectations and pressure on stage in George Mason’s fall musical production.
“The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” is the story of six elementary schoolers competing in their district’s spelling bee to go to nationals.
The play stars six spellers, Alec Reusch (as Chip Tolentino), Miles Jackson (as Leaf Coneybear), Sarah Edwards (as Logainne SchwartzandGrubenierre), Daniel Rossi (as William Barfee), Justine Stohlworthy (as Marcy Park), and Lydia Gomper (as Olive Ostrovsky), each trying to destroy the other. Also starring a convict whose job it is to hug, the hostess who peaked at age 10, a vice principal who makes kids cry, and you! That’s right, you, audience member, could star in this year’s musical! Each night audience members will be called to the stage at the beginning of the show to be a part of this crazy competition.
