This fall is looking to be one of the best seasons of cinema we have seen in a very long time. Coming off of a seemingly mediocre first half of the year, with one disappointment after another, things are finally starting to look up thanks to several top tier films being released in the next few months. In fact, with the exception of “Dune Part 2” and “Deadpool and Wolverine,” there hasn’t been a single movie worth watching in the theaters. The fall however, is looking to save 2024 with some of the highest anticipated movies of this decade.
A seemingly “Oceans 11” themed spy thriller, it’s only fitting that the film stars Brad Pitt and George Clooney. The film follows two spies, dead set on working alone, forced to work together to finish their job. The movie promises to be a return to the hilarious action comedies of the 90s, and thanks to the casting of two of the best actors in this generation, with some of the best chemistry in Hollywood. This is a movie I’m extremely excited for.
The final film in one of my favorite superhero trilogies, “Venom: The Last Dance” promises to cap off what has been an incredible series of films. The “Venom” trilogy has long been seen as Sony’s pride and joy when it comes to superhero movies, and it’s not hard to see why. The films feature an incredible performance from Tom Hardy as Venom, as well as a stacked cast in every single film so far. If “Venom: The Last Dance” can even simply match its prior iterations I believe it’ll be one of the best movies of the year.
Coming off close to the end of the Fall season, Moana 2 promises to be one of the largest films of the decade. The first film in the series is beloved by almost everyone who has seen it, becoming one of the highest grossing films in Disney’s history. The sequel promises to be just as good if not better as it follows Moana’s exploration into the ancient seas of Oceania. Definitely a movie that’s worth a watch.
“Gladiator,” one of the greatest films of all time, known for its epic scale and incredible acting, is finally getting a sequel. While many sequels risk the legacy of its original film, “Gladiator II” appears to be even better than its predecessor. Featuring a cast that rivals “Oppenheimer,” with names like Denzel Washington, Pedro Pascal, and Joseph Quinn, the film looks like it will surpass the prior in grandeur and scale.
“Joker: Folie a Deux” is the best upcoming film of the fall. With a grounded more social commentary focused take on the Joker, the first film and my favorite movie, stunned audiences with how simply incredible the movie was. The sequel promises to be just as good if not better, picking up right where its predecessor left off, and starring “Lady Gaga,” as new character Harley Quinn. This will be one of the greatest films of the decade, and in my opinion is a must watch for everyone looking to have a cinematic experience.
