After missing last week, I’m back in week six for some fantasy football advice. Below, you’ll find some players to play this week, and some to keep on your bench.
Love-Jeremy Maclin, Wide Receiver, Kansas City Chiefs
While he has had an underwhelming season as a whole so far, Maclin is definitely a play for this week, and probably going forward in the future. He has only caught one touchdown, which indicates that he hasn’t been productive which isn’t true; he has consistently had 60+ yard games. With that yardage, the TDs will come soon enough. Maclin is especially appealing this week against the Raiders, the last ranked defense against Wide Receivers.
Love-Tennessee Titans Defense
The Titans D had an impressive week last week against Miami with 13 points. Granted, Miami does not exactly have an overpowering offense, but the Browns, who the Titans are playing this week, aren’t much better. In addition, the Titans D is only owned in 5.9% of leagues, so chances are, you can get them off the waiver wire this week.
Hate-Matt Forte, New York Jets Running Back
The veteran Forte is averaging a solid 12.2 points per game this season, but that stat is misleading, due to his very strong weeks 1 and 2 performances. In fact, he has not had a productive week since his outstanding three touchdown performance in week two. This could be due to the fact that he is now only playing for about half the snaps, splitting time with Bilal Powell. Also, if you play in a PPR (points per reception) league, I would especially recommend sitting Forte, because the Jets are essentially only handing off to Forte, and only passing to Powell, so Forte’s receptions and receiving yards have decreased significantly. Forte is up against an average defense (The Cardinals are ranked 11th against RBs), but it is difficult to score fantasy points when on the bench for half of the snaps. If the Jets can sit him, so can you.
Hate-Martellus Bennett, New England Patriots Tight End
After a HUGE 3 touchdown week from Bennett last week, he seems like a sure start, but, with that being said, there is reason to believe he will not repeat last week. First, he caught 3 TDs but totaled less than 70 yards, whereas Rob Gronkowski, who he shares time with, caught for 109 yards last game, which essentially means that Bennett was only a goal line target. Not to say that goal line targets can’t be productive, in fact the opposite is true. However the Patriots probably threw to Bennett instead of Gronkowski last Sunday because Gronk was still recovering from an injury. Now, with Gronkowski back listed as “healthy,” what used to be Bennett’s TDs, will now be Gronk’s. If you have a backup Tight End, I would play them over Bennett.
