One More Page Books, an independent bookstore located near the East Falls Church Metro, has a lot to offer to Mason students in need of a book. Its cozy interior is lined with shelves, and books cover nearly every available surface, often sporting “Signed by Author” stickers or handwritten recommendations from the incredible staff. It’s the perfect book-buying destination, whether you’re looking for something in particular or just browsing.
However, many readers don’t know one of the most exciting things about One More Page: the store is constantly hosting readings, signings and release parties for local and touring authors. So, the next time you pop in to pick up the latest book of your favorite series, you might also be able to meet the author or go to a theme party with other fans.
Many of the events One More Page hosts are geared towards teens, involving Young Adult (YA) authors and books, making them perfect for high school students. The store has at least one YA event every month, and participates each March in the NoVa Teen Book Festival, featuring panels, book signings and Q&A sessions with a large and diverse selection of YA authors.
Although this annual festival is known to be a fantastic event, the smaller events at One More Page are equally valuable, and take place regularly in the local shop. The events have a tight-knit, friendly atmosphere, and the store is small enough so that each attendee can get time to speak with the special guests.
One such event coming up this month is a costume party celebrating both Halloween and the releases of new books by YA authors Martina Boone (Illusion), Sarah Glenn Marsh (Fear the Drowning Deep), Lisa Maxwell (Unhooked), Jodi Meadows (My Lady Jane), and Victoria Scott (Titans). This will take place at One More Page (2200 North Westmoreland Street) on October 25 at 7 pm, and is sure to be a blast, whether you’ve read books by these authors before or you’re new to their work.
Buying books at One More Page is an excellent choice, but the store has a lot more to offer than that. Next time you drop in to pick up some reading material, check out postings for parties and signings in the future. You just might meet your new favorite author, or find your new favorite book.
