Mike’s Deli is one of the most popular lunch and snack spots in Falls Church. Voted the best sandwich shop in the city by the Falls Church News Press for five straight years, it is rare to go to Mike’s Deli without seeing another Mason student.
The restaurant recently announced their plans to move into the former Long John Silver’s at 7049 Leesburg Pike, right across the street from George Mason.
“We are at the beginning [of] a long process of architectural drawings, plan submission to the county, inspections and buildout,” said David Tax from Clare and Don’s, the owners of Mike’s Deli. “We are going to try and be open by February.”
Mike’s is currently in a building on North West Street that will be torn down when the Mason Row development goes under construction. The plan for Mason Row was approved in January and the project is currently in the hands of Mill Creek developers.
“I love Mike’s… I was terrified [that it could close],” junior Leah Kleinberg said. “This solution is perfect.”
Even though plans are still being settled, students are in luck – Mike’s will be at soon be easier to get to than ever.
