Coming into Week 10, you may be already in the playoffs, looking for playoff contention, or already eliminated. Whatever your circumstances, hopefully this can help you either get a higher playoff seed, get you in to the playoffs, or just help you avoid whatever stupid loser’s bet you made at the beginning of the season.
Love: James Starks, Running Back, Green Bay Packers
It’s no secret that the Packers’ backfield has been a mess this season. With Eddie Lacy on the IR, and James Starks injured, the Packers have resorted to trading for Knile Davis (who they haven’t used), and moving Ty Montgomery from WR to RB. Montgomery has done a fine job considering he is usually a WR, but with James Starks slated to return this week (he is listed as questionable), the backfield should, for the first time, go for the most part to Starks. With that said, he has potential as the Packers RB 1 for the rest of the season, especially considering he is only owned in about a quarter of leagues.
Love: Steve Smith Sr, Wide Receiver, Baltimore Ravens
Smith has recently come back from injury, and last week’s return was ultimately a disappointment for most Smith owners, with only 4 catches for 47 yards. On the bright side, Smith had a very high snap count last week, so hopefully that keeps up next week, and Smith should be more productive. Also, he’s up against the Browns this week. Keep it simple, play your players against the Browns.
Hate: Brandin Cooks, Wide Receiver, New Orleans Saints
Cooks is usually a WR 1 play, I’m not saying to drop him or trade him, but this week he’s slated for much lower production, since he’s up against the Broncos defense, considering they are the top secondary against WRs. Also, Drew Brees has been throwing more and more to Michael Thomas and less to Cooks over the past couple weeks.
Hate: Christine Michael
Michael isn’t in danger of losing his top backfield job in Seattle, but he has been much less productive in these past couple weeks, as Russell Wilson has started to throw better. He rushed for only one yard against the Bills last week, a defense that has allowed other RBs big days (Jay Ajayi in Week 7 and LeGarrette Blount in Week 8), so he leaves us no reason to think he should rush well against a strong Patriots defense.
