Spring is quickly approaching, and with it a variety of spring sports, including girls soccer. For the varsity team, junior Izzy Armstrong is the 2017 player to watch.
Armstrong has been on the varsity soccer team since her freshman year, and was on junior varsity as an eighth grader. She regularly starts games on offense, and was the second leading scorer last season with 27 goals. Additionally, she was on the First Team All-District, First Team All-Conference and First Team All-Region.
“I think hard work is an important quality and to just keep working at it,” said Armstrong, “So, you have to work outside of practice and do whatever they ask.”
Her teammate agreed.
“She’s an all around hard worker and does everything,” said junior teammate Victoria Rund.
Coach Allison Klink, who returns for her second consecutive year as varsity coach, acknowledged that she didn’t want to single out one player. Klink said the team is young and that, before tryouts, it’s too early to tell.
However, Armstong’s talent in the 2016 season has caught The Lasso’s eye and should catch yours at the season home opener on March 9 at 7:30 p.m.
