It’s already June: the last month of the school year. Final exams start next week, and the period of extensive studying and cramming is coming up.
But before all that, take one last evening to unwind and come check out the?Spring JV show in the GM auditorium this Thursday, June 11, and Friday, June 12, for a chance to see some of the best talent that Mason has to offer.
“The show has over 22 different acts,” said Mary Jo West, Fine and Performing Arts teacher and co-sponsor. “They range from comedy to solo vocals to percussion ensemble to rock bands to jazz ensemble.”
The proceeds from this spring JV show will go to the incoming junior class, and all proceeds go towards the 2016 Junior-Senior Prom.
Seniors Gabe Brown and Julia Palmer will be the emcees. They are in the process of making a short opening video for everyone to enjoy.
The show is put together with the leadership of West and Fine and Performing Arts teacher, John Ballou, as well as with the help of the stage crew.
However, a question that many students, teachers, and parents may ask is why the show is so late in the year this time, since it has always been in May.
“For the past years, the JV Show was always in the middle of IB exams, SOL exams, and prom. It was hectic for the student body and also an issue with auditorium scheduling,” said West. “This year we moved it to the end of the year as an experiment.” So far, it appears to be a move in the right direction. Students have more time to rehearse and prepare their acts without the stress of SOL and IB exams. It’s always a great way to end the year.”
