About Us

The Lasso is the official student newspaper of Meridian High School in Falls Church, Virginia. Located just a few miles west of Washington, D.C., Falls Church is a small, vibrant suburban community. Meridian is the only high school in our small independent school system. The Lasso is produced and edited by members of the Journalism class, with contributions from students who take the class or are members of the club. The Lasso has been in continuous publication since 1952, the same year of Meridian’s first graduating class. Published in print form for decades, The Lasso migrated to the Web in 2002 and is now published exclusively online. Every year, we publish two print magazines and a print newspaper.
