Students of Color Leaders are interviewed after the walkout. SOCA organized the walkout, in response to racial harassment incidents at Meridian and Mary Ellen Henderson.

At 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday October 20, students from Meridian High School walked out of their classes and onto the football field to protest the recent incidents of racial harassment against students of Meridian High School and Mary Ellen Henderson Middle School.

The event, which was organized by the Meridian Students of Color Association, lasted about 20 minutes and featured eight student speakers from SOCA. The students spoke about their experiences of being a person of color at Meridian High School and the Falls Church City school system. They outlined their experiences of suffering from racial harassment, and called on the school administration to act more strongly to punish those responsible.
