Valentine’s Day candy and treats at Target.

Many Lasso writers have strong opinions about the superior Valentine’s Day candy. Read this article and take their suggestions (or don’t)!

M&M’s (Kaylah)

The red one is the best. M&M’s are the go to simple Valentine’s Day chocolate candies you can get. The colors just add to the experience rather than just eating boring, non-colorful chocolate. On top of that, you can put M&M’s on basically anything.

Brach’s Candy Conversation Hearts (Mrs. Lietzen)

They taste like chalk and have an uncomfortably long shelf life; why does anyone eat them?

Chocolate boxes (Kylie)

Chocolate for Valentine’s Day is the best idea ever. Let me rephrase that: chocolate at any time is the best idea ever. There are an innumerable amount of flavors to choose from and none of them are bad unlike candy hearts, fun dip, and sugar cookies which are always bad. Though there is no difference if the chocolate is from a box or from a wrapper, it is better from a box. I don’t know why, but it’s just better. Anyway, eat chocolate.

Valentine’s Day sugar cookies (Sophia)

Most people consider boxed sugar cookies from major grocery stores disgusting, but I disagree. Valentine’s Day themed lofthouse cookies from Target are a staple for any party or get-together. The sickening sweetness of the cookies perfectly captures the feel of Valentine’s Day, whether you’re in a relationship or single.

Fun Dip (Sam)

Tastes like blue.

Peeps (Tessa)

Yes, yes, yes. Peeps are so good and full of sugar; it’s great. They start to appear in grocery stores around Valentine’s Day, so go and get them! For those who haven’t experienced the joy of Peeps (who are you!?), they are basically sugar-covered marshmallows shaped like birds. I don’t know why they are so good but they are so delicious. They really bring me back to the good ol’ days around spring time. So if you are going to get someone a treat this Valentine’s day (or eat them by yourself while watching Netflix, you do you), absolutely choose Peeps.

Dollar Store chocolate heart candy boxes (Mino)

When I was in elementary school, I used to buy these chocolates from Dollar Tree and I thought they were good. That wasn’t the case because I tried one of them years later and it was disgusting because they tasted expired. Please don’t buy your friends chocolate heart boxes from Dollar Tree. It is not worth it.
