It’s no secret that with the end of a quarter comes stress; Teachers have papers to grade and students have papers to write, both on a deadline. Several classes have long-term projects due at the end of the quarter, and there’s no time to bring up your grade if you do badly on a test or quiz.
As the first quarter of the 2015-16 school year came to an end, students complained about the excess workload given to them by teachers. Whether it was an essay, project, or test, students had at least something they had to get done by the end.
“I have 3 essays all due on Thursday and Friday,” said sophomore Katarina Hansen.
Whether it was true or not, some students felt as though teachers intentionally assigned this load to students.
“At the end of the quarter, that’s when teachers seem to decide to pile stuff on,” said sophomore Katie Mills.
While students may not have understood this workload, teachers had a different perspective on the situation.
“The workload doesn’t change at the end of the quarter, it just seems like it does because [students] have to turn in everything [they are] behind on,” said math teacher, Mr. Stephen Whitcomb.
Regardless of the situation or the reason, students still made it through the first quarter, now only three more to go!
