Growing up in Loudoun County, playing varsity for Broad Run High School and winning a Regional title, Marc Mesmer comes from experience of playing the sport at a young age. He continued on to play college lacrosse for CNU, then club for JMU.
“I coached varsity at Broad Run for the past four years,” said Mesmer. “But here there is an opportunity to build a program, not to mention the shorter commute.”
His excitement to work with new kids and develop the program will be greatly appreciated as the previous season left the boys program with only two wins.
Growing up in a lacrosse family, with nine All-American players and a member who won a national title in 2011 at UVA and earned the Tewaaraton Trophy. Mesmer’s experiences with his family has shown him how to truly coach athletes, especially at the high school level.
“I grew up in a family that revolved around sports,” said Mesmer. “It will be a little bit of a challenge but I can bring something to this program and teach them in a very intellectual way.”
High expectations will be placed among the lacrosse team by Coach Mesmer.
“At least to the first round of Districts,” said Mesmer. With not only collegiate and coaching experience but living and breathing the sport through family experiences, Mesmer is a much needed addition to the varsity boys lacrosse team.
