Bad Bunny’s new album “Nadie Sabe Lo Que Va a Pasar Mañana” (“Nobody Knows What Will Happen Tomorrow”) broke records yet again when it was released on Oct. 13, when became the most streamed album in a single day in 2023 on Spotify. The album also ranked No.1 on Billboard 200. It was released almost two years after his album “Un Verano Sin Ti” (“A Summer Without You”), which spent 13 weeks at Number one on Billboard 200.
The surprise album which Bad Bunny announced on Instagram on October 9 has 22 songs, each telling a different story. All of the songs are composed by him, so the lyrics are personal and unique.
The first song on the album “Nadie Sabe” is a deeper look into Bad Bunny’s mind and how fame has affected him. The song tells a lyrical story, similar to poetry. Lyrics such as, “no one knows how lonely it feels to have 100 million people in front ” and “for people to wish for you to die,” show a more isolated side of fame that Bad Bunny has not expressed through his music before.
“I think the new album is cool, how he’s mixing his emotions with the music and how he’s going for a different style than how he used to. From going from trap to calm, and I love how he’s mixing with other artists,” sophomore Paola Orella said.
“Monaco” which ranked #1 on Billboard 200 has been one of the more popular songs from the album. The song opens up with a classical music piece, before continuing into a more heavy bass trap song. He plays with rhyming schemes and comedy in the song which allows it to flow.
He also includes many pop culture references such as “Sofia Vergara is pretty, but she’s prettier in person” and, “It’s like scoring a goal after Messia and Maradona.” Likewise, the song stands out from the other songs in the album with French melodic passages throughout the song.
“I think that it’s true when he talks about how people should stop doing stupid things. His mentality can help us become better,” freshman Heipry Barrientos said.
Bad Bunny collaborated with a large variety of artists such as Young Miko, Mora, Bryant Myers, Laur La L, YOVNGCHIMI, Eladio Carrion, Arcángel, De La Ghetto, and Ñengo Flow. Many of these up-and-coming Latin artists, such as Feid who is ranked 56th in the world on Spotify.
Bad Bunny’s much-anticipated album has a song for everyone, each unique with distinct sounds and lyrics. Like his previous albums, “Nadie Sabe Lo Que Va a Pasar Mañana,” it has attracted audiences worldwide and is in the running to win future awards.
