Meridian lost to Kettle Run in a 3-0 sweep on Tuesday, Sept. 17 at Meridian High School.. Kettle Run dominated the game from start to finish, controlling every single set of the game.
In the first set, Kettle Run jumped out to a quick start, forcing Meridian to call a timeout down while they were down 8-3. The timeout fired a spark into Meridian, and they got back even with Kettle Run, tying the set 9-9. Meridian took another timeout after falling back to 19-15, and this time Meridian could not come back, as they lost the first set 25-17. Senior Melia Collins led the set with five kills for Meridian.
The Mustangs came out in the second set flat, with Kettle Run jumping all over the Mustangs. Meridian could not stop the attack from Kettle Run. Meridian took a timeout down 14-3 to hopefully insert a spark in the team. It unfortunately didn’t work, and the Mustangs lost the set 25-12.
Kettle Run went right back on the attack as they took a 12-6 lead early in the set. Meridian couldn’t rally as Kettle Run kept the pressure on. Meridian lost 25-11 in the third set as they got swept.
