From Feb. 20th to 22nd, Matilda Jr. the musical was presented at the middle school, directed by theater teacher Ms. Lisa Gross, known by students as Ms. G. It was led by 8th graders Whit Jenkins and Claire O’Neil, who both portrayed the lead character, Matilda Wormwood.
Matilda Jr. was a top performance full of perfectly executed acting and singing, with the tone fluctuating from sorrow to perseverance. Each actor was carefully trained to perform at their best ability.
Ms. G agreed on the subject as she enthusiastically spoke about the cast.
“I’m beyond proud of the students in the cast and crew. They pulled off four incredible performances in front of hundreds of audience members.”
Overall, Matilda Jr. had an incredible cast full of amazing singers and actors despite their young ages. Every cast member showed a great understanding for their roles with calculated movements to bring their characters to life. All the hard work each student and teacher put into the play to make it possible paid off. It was truly an exhilarating performance.
