Mr. Ken DiCesare, better known as Mr. D around MEH and MHS, passed away in January. The beloved paraprofessional greeted everyone with kindness––and a piece of candy. The Lasso asked students and staff what they will remember about Mr. D, and the same sentiment echoed in each response; he made everyone smile, laugh, and inspired others to share joy.
“I met Ken (Mr. D) when I first arrived at MEHMS in 2019. He was funny, caring, kind, and always willing to support students or staff in need. I knew that If I needed help I could count on Ken. His smile and energy was contagious and always lifted the spirits of tired middle schoolers (and staff) arriving at school. Ken was a light in this world and I (and the broader FCCPS community) miss him so much.”
-Mr. Rob Carey, Assistant Principal.

“Mr. D made middle school PE so so much fun. He could get a laugh out of anybody with his joyous spirits. One time my friend got him a pink wig and he wore it the whole class to make us happy and joke around. He is loved and missed by so many people.”
– Petra Olsen, Sophmore

“Mr. D was the kind of person who could brighten your day with a laugh and always bring a smile to your face. I’ll never forget the last time I saw him he was in my stable group class, and we talked about how life was going. The final words he said to me were, “See you around,” and little did I know, that would be the last time I’d ever see him. Mr. D will always be remembered as the one who gave candy and spread joy wherever he went.”
– Leydis Lazo Castro, junior.
“Back when I was in 6th grade he was a helper in my math class and my friend and I would always look forward to going into that class because of him. He would do so much to help us understand the content and make us smile.”
– Hannah Fazio, junior.
