When choosing between survival and extinction, which would you choose? If you’re human, you’ll most likely choose survival. And that’s just what the players of The Division choose to do. As a player of The Division’s beta game, I see a lot of promising content that players will love.
The Division is set in a new time frame; it’s not the post apocalyptic world and it’s not before it all goes down, but right in the middle when the people of the world are just grasping for life to survive as the last of the human race. I particularly like this concept because it is uncommon, as the game theorizes what would be going on in the middle of a worldwide epidemic instead of before or after the epidemic happens.
Some of the features in the Division are just amazing, like the 3D map of the Division. It appears right under you, showing the nearby surrounding area (not the whole city of New York City), places you’ve already visited, marked locations and even underground paths. The Map can also locate Dark Zones.
Dark Zones are areas of Player versus Environment and Player versus Player combat where you can kill or be killed by other players in the server. Dark Zones are dangerous places, especially if you go Rogue. If you do go Rogue, you are now the Prime target of the server, and everyone is now out for your head. Not gonna lie, Dark Zones are my favorite places. To hunt and to be hunted by others gives me a sense of excitement. I’ve found that Dark Zones are well described by the motto “Kill or be Killed.”
One of my personal favorite weapons in the Division is the sticky bomb launcher. The launcher shoots Sticky Bombs that will stick to almost all surfaces in the game and can be remotely detonated. This is great weapon to have in Dark Zones to fool other players into your trap. This is my absolute favorite ability because after you lead another player into a trap, it feels so satisfying to have outsmarted them. Also, the body physics can sometimes be funny after an explosion.
I love these game mechanics and spectacular graphics. Using the tools that you are given in game, you must come out alive no matter what. Stay out of Dark Zones if you don’t want to be hunted and keep safe. Use the Map your advantage, and set those traps. So what will your plan of attack be? A disciplined, silent sneak attack or all out war?

Great and well-written article, but with all due respect, how is this at all relevant to most GM students? I think maybe this article would be better suited to medium.com.
