The end of an EVENTFUL CyberPatriot Competition Season
March 29, 2016
The eventful 3rd season of the GMHS CyberPatriots Competition Season comes to end with 2 teams placing in the top 20 in the Regional Round (top 20 out of 164 teams). The A-team and the CyberKnights worked extremely hard but could not make the rankings needed to advance to Nationals. We say goodbye to several seniors (who have committed to mentoring new members in the pre-season this spring), Tim Winters (3rd year for competing), Matthew Puentes, Gabriel Lundquist, Leon Tan from the A-Team and Will Earman, Chris Markus from the CyberKnights.
This season had many firsts; The A-Team earned the #1 State Rank at the Platinum Tier during the State round in January, The first ever all girls team of Threat Level Midnight (Megan Butler, Shaun Rodock, Lindsey Stegenga, Alice Castillo, and Andrea Dilao) earned #3 in the State at the Gold Tier during the State Round and the First middle school team of James Trombo, Jakub Leski, Connor Mills, Jonathan Oppenheimer and Finn Driggers competed and was mentored by high school teams.
For the rest of the year, returning teams/members will be preparing for next fall’s competition season. On April 21st, an informational/interest meeting will be held to register teams to compete in the practice/exhibition rounds throughout the summer.
