After hours of clicking through countless pages of dresses and gowns, taking multiple trips to the mall, and an endless cycle of returning and buying, you’ve selected a dress. The relief settles in, because you’re done, right? Well, not exactly.
There are some of you who will have your shoe situation figured out already. But for those who think the cycle of clicking and shopping will never end, we may be able to help. Hopefully these suggestions will set you on the right path to completing your prom outfit.
Go Nude
One of the hardest things to decide on when picking out shoes is what color goes best with the actual dress. One way to eliminate this problem immediately is to go with a nude color. Nude will go with any color or colors in your dress, and using such a muted color gives you more leeway in terms of what style shoe you can wear.
Be Bold
If your dress itself is a solid black, white, grey or nude, try wearing a bold color on your feet. A bright blue, pink, or even yellow shoe will add some excitement to a simple look.
Matchy-Matchy
Who says your dress and shoes have to be different colors? Even with different shades, matching can give you a very “put together” look for prom.
Side tip: If your dress is multicolored, look for shoes that match colors that are found subtly in your dress. This provides an interesting alternative for anyone who wants to try shoes that stand out more than your average nude.
Ok, This is Nice and Everything, But I Don’t Want To Be TOO Tall!
To all my 5’10-ers and up, you haven’t been forgotten. Even though there isn’t anything wrong with being being the tallest in the room, it’s understood that you might be uncomfortable with that. You can avoid towering with short heels, but expand your options by including sandals into the equation. Strappy or lace-up sandals add an element of elegance that isn’t usually associated with the shoe.
