“Most people wouldn’t consider me a public speaker, but I really wanted to try something new,” junior Lindsey Stegenga said.
You may have noticed that the morning announcements have been including positive quotes for the past few weeks. This is a new trademark of our new Voice of George Mason, junior Lindsey Stegenga. She won the vote earlier this month and will officially be reading the morning announcements for the remainder of this school year as well as next year.
“It was really out of the blue, but not many people were running [for the Voice of George Mason position] and I thought that it would be fun,” Stegenga said regarding her reasons for running for the position.
Stegenga has grown up in Falls Church as a “lifer” and her love and appreciation for the community has been a large part of her experiences. Her interests in being a positive voice for the school are shown through her love for George Mason and interests such as math and art.
Her Mason pride is displayed through other ways such as partaking in the tradition of painting ceiling tiles. Steganga and junior Megan Butler worked together to create a mural for their BC Calculus class that incorporated their units of study in a creative, colorful way.
“Math is one of my favorite subjects and I like art, so combining both into one project was really fun,” Stegenga said.
Through her dedication to school, it is clear that she embodies some of the characteristics that best represent students at Mason. She looks forward to the upcoming school year as the Voice of George Mason, sharing her positive attitude with all Mason students.
