School may only be starting up this month, but Mason athletes have been training and practicing all through August to prepare for this season’s games and meets. To make cheering on the mustangs easier, we’ve found the top most competitive and exciting games and meets to come watch over the next few months.
First home football game and tailgate party
On September 9, the Mason varsity football team is hosting their first home game of the season at 7:30, and the cheer team will also be there. At 5:30 before the game, Mason is holding the first ever tailgate party, so come out early to get some food and relax after the first week of school!
Cross Country Braddock Relays
On September 17 Mason’s cross country team will be competing at Lake Braddock High School, with races starting at 3:00 on the track. Cross country may not have any home meets, but this one is a short drive away, and each athlete will run 1.5 miles as part of a relay race around the school track and campus. Take advantage of this close meet to come cheer on Mason’s runners!
Volleyball vs. Riverside
Mason volleyball plays Riverside on September 19 at 6:00 (JV) and 7:00 (varsity). Mason has already faced Riverside in an away game in August, and after a 1-3 defeat for both JV and varsity, the team is determined to make a comeback and show their improvement.
Field Hockey senior night
The Mason varsity field hockey team has already started their season, having won all 4 games played so far. The team’s senior night is being held on October 20, with a 7:15 home game against Brookewood School. JV also has a home game against Wilson at 6:00.
Homecoming football game
This year’s homecoming football game is at 7:30 on October 21 against Warren County. Homecoming is always a game with a big crowd, complete with the cheerleading team and Mason’s pep band, and the homecoming court walking the field during half time. With the excitement and school spirit, this is definitely a game you can’t miss!
Volleyball senior night
Volleyball’s senior night (and their last home game of the regular season) is taking place on October 27 with a 7:00 game against Rappahannock County, a team that the athletes are determined to beat this year. JV also plays Rappahannock at 6:00. Come to support the team and say goodbye to the senior players!
