National Letter of Intent was the day that numerous high school athletes signed commitments to all different universities/ colleges. Senior and varsity soccer player Ava Roth was one of the many on February 4, 2015 to sign her official letter of intent. Surrounded by her parents Barb Roth and Jesse Roth, Roth signed her official letter intent committing to Lehigh University starting in the Fall of 2015.
“I was excited to finally sign my letter of intent to Lehigh because it marked the end of my recruiting process and proved that all my hard work payed off,” said Roth.
Roth is a senior and going on her fourth year as a varsity girl’s soccer player. In her career at GM, Roth has been apart of the dynasty contributing to three of the seven consecutive state championships won. Roth is incredibly valuable to GM, in fact, Roth scored the only two goals in the 2014 State Championship, helping GM grab a 2-1 victory over Maggie Walker Governor’s School. This year Roth is back for her fourth year and ready to win the eighth consecutive State Championship.
In addition to her successful high school team, Roth is a part of a very high achieving club team VSA Heat U18 based out of Haymarket, VA. Most recently Roth’s team claimed the Virginia State Cup Championship.
With high school and club successes in hand, Roth is excited to become a Mountain Hawk and sport the brown and white. But the biggest excitement of all long time Lehigh rival: Lafayette College.
“If I had to choose one thing to be excited for it would be the rivalry with Lafayette,” said Roth.
