The date is not official, but the second season of Stranger Things is scheduled to come out before July 2017. Here are some fan made theories followed by polls for you to answer and find out how your theories relate to the theories of other Stranger Things fans.
- Eleven isn’t dead
What would Stranger Things be like without Elle? This is one of the most common theories and it is what many fans are hoping for. At the end of the first season, Chief Hopper left Eleven’s favorite snack, eggos waffles, in the drop box in the woods. Why would he leave these things there if Eleven is dead? The demogorgon and Eleven both disappeared into thin air after their berserk riot. Because there was no corpse, it is likely that both characters are still alive but relocated elsewhere, for instance, to the underground.
- Eleven is Hopper’s daughter
Hopper has been grieving over the apparent loss of his daughter for years. His mood has shifted from miserable and rude to determined and ambitious ever since he took Will’s case, which branched out into Eleven’s mystery. In Hopper’s last appearance we saw him putting eggos into a box in the woods. He didn’t know Eleven too well, so why is he the one leaving her eggos? Also, how does he know Eleven likes eggos? Is it because he gave them to her as a kid? Or was Eleven’s love for eggos inherited by her dad, Hopper?
- Will is going to transform into the demogorgon
Season one ended by showing Will cough up a slug from the upsidedown. Perhaps, when he was revived, the demogorgon had already started to captivate his body and it will continue to grow inside him. This theory also provides an explanation for a popular question: “Why did Will survived while Barb didn’t?”
- Hopper’s daughter was one of the other test subjects
Why is Hopper so interested in the alternate universes? Is he hoping to find his daughter alive? Based on Eleven’s name, it is safe to assume that there are at least 10 other test subjects. However, we have no knowledge of any other subjects or even of their existence. The other subjects are a significant part of the plot, so why shouldn’t they be addressed? Maybe this essential knowledge is being kept concealed because we are waiting a shocking surprise in Season Two.
- The demogorgon is a former test subject
It is inferred that there were previous test subjects at Hawkins Lab since Eleven is named “Eleven.” What if the previous test subjects got stuck in the Upside Down and transformed into the demogorgon?
- The demogorgon and/or the upsidedown is a projection of Eleven’s Mind
In an early episode, Eleven herself stated that she’s the monster. In the last battle it was only Eleven who was capable of defeating the demogorgon. This could mean that the demogorgon was a projection of Eleven’s internal conflicts which is why she was the only one able to defeat them. On a bigger picture, the whole upside down could be a projection of Eleven’s mind. The monster is alone in the upside down until the portal is opened, resulting in the monster hurting others, which is incredibly similar to eleven’s experiences.
