On the morning of Saturday, January 21, the streets of Washington D.C. were packed with hundreds of thousands of enthusiastic people empowered to march for the women’s rights and anyone else who felt their rights were not protected under the new presidential administration.
With their pink hats, creative signs and loud voices, the marchers attended a rally with singers and speakers lasting from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., and then began to march. Close to a million people were estimated to have attended the march, which is more than twice the number estimated to have attended Donald Trump’s presidential inauguration, which was a day before.
Through aerial photos, it also appears that the attendance of President Trump’s was significantly less than former President Obama’s previous inaugurations, particularly his first. The debate sparked controversy when President Trump’s press secretary Sean Spicer claimed that Trump’s inauguration was the most attended.
