Megan Moroney’s most recent album “Cloud 9″ came out Feb. 20th, and it has already gained over 130 million streams on Spotify shortly after its release.
At only 28 years old, Moroney already has three studio albums, along with countless beloved singles, having toured five times. Moroney is known to collaborate with other songwriters and artists, although she is the main writer of her own music. On her newest album “Cloud 9″, she has a track named “I Only Miss You” that features Ed Sheeran, as well as a track titled “Bells & Whistles” that features Kacey Musgraves.
“Cloud 9” has 15 tracks based on her experience after her “Am I Okay” album, which came out in 2025. It adventures through the themes of young adulthood, motivation and self respect, and joins both pop and country sounds together. The album discusses the events of romance and heart breaks, and covers the pressure she receives from the music industry.
She spoke to Apple Music on the subject, saying “This album is the most accurate screenshot of the past year and a half of my life. Every single thing that I went through is written about here and there’s no ‘oh, we wrote this because we were just vibing.’ No, I lived every single line of this album.”
Even with the success of the album, it has sparked some online controversy between Riley Green and Megan Moroney. There have been speculations on Instagram resulting from an unreleased song that Green posted titled “POS Like Me.” These lyrics were about a “lying, cheating sun of a gun,” causing fans to speculate that Green was reacting to the accusations in Moroney’s “Who Hurt You?” This led many fans to believe that they may have been dating in 2025.
The fan favorite song seems to be the long awaited, “Wedding Dress.” The track focuses on the concept of not getting over your ex, and has gained significant traction due to its widespread relatability. Additionally, many enjoy the song “Medicine,” one of the more high energy songs on her album.
However, students seem to disagree with this ranking and prefer to listen to other songs in her album.
“My favorite song is “Wish I didn’t,” and this is my favorite song because I love the lyrics and how it can connect to so many situations, how the tune is, how catchy the lyrics are and how upbeat it is!” freshman Quinn Sussman said.
However, not everyone’s favorite song is the same. Since there is a wide variety of songs in Moroney’s album, there is something for everyone.
“My favorite song is “Medicine” because it is uplifting,” Bea Mangino states.
On Friday February 13th, Moroney released her “9 Cities, 9 Days” tour, where she appeared at nine pop up tours to represent the “Cloud 9″ album. She went on to tour 9 cities in 9 days, and performed 3 songs in each city for only $9. The tour began in New York City on Feb. 20th, and concluded on Feb 28th in Scottsdale Arizona. “Cloud 9″ has attracted many listeners from around the world causing Moroney’s following on social media and spotify to rapidly increase, as many new fans discover her music.
