Senior Water Tag, a game countless seniors look forward to, started on April 8th. The goal of the game is to eliminate a target using a water gun, taking their target once they are out.
Every senior playing pays $10 cash to enter and all of the money gets put together, at the end of the game the last person standing is the winner of Senior Water Tag gets the money.
Players must provide video evidence of any elimination. The game is not allowed to be played on any school property 24/7. In order to avoid getting out wearing goggles or floaties is a must, unless it’s a purge day. On purge days goggles and floaties do not provide safety, upping the challenge.
The first person to get eliminated was Duke Dawson, who was targeted by Linnea Chapman.
“It feels good that I got my target out first and so early on in the game because it relieved so much stress. I also prepped a lot, so it honestly wasn’t difficult,” Chapman explained.
Chapman also discussed her motivations for participating in the game.
“I only really like the game because of the possible prize, it’s stressful and kind of inconvenient especially for people that work and play a spring sport. However, I have been looking forward to playing because I want to win and I have been strategizing since freshman year,” Chapman stated.
The first Purge Day was April 13. In the rules it says for Week 1 that there will only be 1 Purge day and that they will be announced ahead of time. However, there was a second purge day on April 15th, which is a violation of the rules
Many seniors were eliminated that day, as the purge day announcement was posted around 7am and was entirely unexpected.
Senior Water Tag is not something that only seniors look forward to. Many lower classmen enjoy seeing how it plays out and are eager for their turn.
“I’m so excited to hear crazy stories of people getting raged, tagged or barely avoiding it,” freshman Rex Campbell stated.
Senior Water Tag is a beloved senior tradition that happens at many other schools around the country. It’s a fun game where students can come together and have fun while eliminating each other left and right.
