After months of anticipation, Falls Church’s newest bakery, Tatte, opened Oct. 15th on Broad St.
Tatte first opened in 2008, originating as a small cafe in Boston. Since then, Tatte has grown, gaining 46 new locations, and moved to the DMV area. In doing so, they have become known for their phenomenal pastries and coffee selection.

The Tatte menu focuses mainly on coffee and bakery items, however their dishes feature a variety of different cultural influences. Many of Tatte’s menu items are inspired by different cuisines, including Mediterranean, North African, French, and Middle Eastern food.
This variety is present in many different dishes, from their croque monsieurs to their selections of shakshouka entrees. Lovers of the restaurant praise it for its cozy atmosphere and the different cultural influences.

A Tatte opening in Falls Church wasn’t unexpected for the business, considering their expansion into the DMV. The company has 14 other cafés in D.C alone, and is already loved by the people of Falls Church.
“The atmosphere was so nice and the indie design was really cool. There was ‘Falls Church’ marked in the tiles, and my friend ordered this mozzarella and tomato thing, and it was so good. The servers also seemed really nice, and it was really good,” said senior Emily Beloe.
Other students were similarly positive about the café.
“It was really good, it looked very clean inside and aesthetic. I had an iced caramel latte and the coffee was excellent” says senior Eliza Barnes.
Students aren’t the only ones excited about Tate’s opening, the rest of the Falls Church community is as well. Tate’s general manager Skyler Keys detailed how business has already been booming, saying: “[There’s] people to the right and left of us”
Heidi Deger, a part of Tatte’s community council who grew up in Falls Church, also discussed how excited she was for Tatte’s opening.
She detailed her excitement, saying, “My favorite part was really just seeing a community I’ve been part of for so long give Tatte such a warm welcome.”
