As of Apr. 29, Stable on Tuesday through Friday has been replaced with Mustang Block. This updated schedule was implemented due to IB testing during the remaining weeks of school.
Many students and staff members like the idea of only having Stable on Monday throughout the entire year, rather than only during the IB testing window.
“I personally love only having Stable on Mondays because I check into my Stable group once a week but I also get a lot of time to myself during Mustang Block to see teachers and work on lots of extra work,” freshman Cora Brock stated.
Having more time during Mustang Block gives students and staff more time to get their work done and relax during the stressful last weeks of school.
“I think that Stable is unnecessary, but Mustang Block is really helpful to catch up on work. I think that there should only be Mustang Block everyday,” freshman Katie Johnson explained.
Math teacher Lisa Myklestad talked about how she enjoys the extra time without having Stable everyday and how there is more time to help students.
“I have mixed feelings about not having Stable Group Tuesdays through Fridays. I have really enjoyed having the extra time with students who come in for help or to make up summatives. That little bit of extra time has made a huge difference in getting things completed in Mustang Block,” Myklestad noted.
She also commented how she has conflicted feelings with the idea of not having Stable everyday for the normal part of the year.
“However, I really like seeing my Stable group every day. I have the best Stable group – and seeing them daily has helped up really create a great bond. I would worry that if we only met once a week, we wouldn’t be as close as we are,” Myklestad said.
Stable group allows for an increase in productivity because students can spend time with teachers or by themselves. However, you get to make new relationships and have more connections than you would have before in Stable.
