Broad Street is buzzing with retail openings, and its newest restaurant, Fish Taco, has quickly established itself as a favorite in the Falls Church food scene.
Walking in for the first time, I was immediately hit with a wave of good energy complimented by a cozy atmosphere. The restaurant has a bright modern aesthetic, with one of the most flavorful menus in the area. The first thing I noticed when walking in the door was how friendly the service was, staff greeting me the second I walked in. It can be difficult to find a place where the staff seems so welcoming and kind, so this definitely stood out and made me want to return.
Although seating is limited, the sleek coastal aesthetic helps the space feel very curated, making it a perfect chill spot for a quick lunch or meetup with friends.
The menu offers a great variety. For starters, the chips and queso are a must order item, which you can customize and mix with different toppings. Another standout item which would make a perfect appetizer is the elote, a grilled corn topped with cotija cheese.
In contrast to their name, the restaurant offers items other than fish tacos. Their variety of tacos is what makes the restaurant stand out. You can either buy single street tacos like steak or indulge in a barbacoa to taste a bit of everything. If you like seafood, the taco del mar is a great choice with their signature ancho shrimp taco. If you’re going to Fish Taco with more of an appetite after a long day, the burritos and rice bowls are another filling and delicious item offered. Beyond that, if you are in the mood for something different or lighter, they also offer a refreshing shrimp and mango ceviche.
One downside is that it can be difficult to get to by car, as parking can be difficult to find near the restaurant. However, Founders Row offers affordable parking in its onsite parking garage.
It’s safe to say that Fish Taco is a win for Falls Church. With its great atmosphere and outgoing workers that go out of their way to make you feel welcome, the restaurant makes you want to stay and savor every moment. If you want a place with a cozy atmosphere and amazing food, this is the spot for you.
